WOMEN EMPLOYABILITY SUMMIT 2019 WOMEN UNIVERSITY MARDAN

Second Women Employability Summit 2019 was held on 20th & 21th Feb, 2019 at Women University Mardan where more than 1000 girls from different women institutions, employers from the local job sectors participated, multiple employment opportunities were shared with the graduates and young girls during the summit and 15 leading industry experts and speakers spoke at the summit. In pre-summit training workshops 1200 young girls belonging from university were equipped with Employability skills.

CATD addressed the key challenge of lesser opportunities for female university students and graduates to enter into formal job market both in public and private sector. The summit was focused & centered on SDG’s Goal no. 4, 5, 8 and 17 to help young girls have equal access to employment, provide them the resources and equip them with the skills that make them more employable, and network with the job sector.

The overall goal of the Women Employability Summit – WUM was to increase employability for women in KP

– To help young girls be more employable, network with job sector and get employment opportunities and be socially and economically empowered

– To provide training on employability skills, entrepreneurship and career to 1200, college, university students and graduated girls from universities and colleges in KP

– To work for and achieve SDG’s Goal#4: Quality Education Goal #5: Gender Equality  Goal# 8 Decent work and Economic Growth and Goal#17 Partnership to achieve the goals.

-To facilitate job placement/internships of 200 graduate students from 05 selected women-based universities and colleges in KP with potential employers in public and private sector.

LEARNING SEGMENTS WES19 – WUM:

Women Employability provided young girls a highly-engaging, effective and interactive experience that results in a powerful learning outcome by acquiring new skills and market knowledge, know about and get employment opportunities and networking with job sector and experts. The key learning segments of the Women Employability Summit are;

Digital Skills & Online Earning: Our vision is to equip young girls with digital skills and learn the art of online earning from different market experts.

Employability Skill: Employability skills or are the key to workplace success so we equip young girls with key employability skills to be ready for the workplace and be more employable.

Women Entrepreneurship: Entrepreneurship is an effective way to help young girls be self-employable and create local employment to play role in socio-economic development of the community.

Technology, Innovation and Market opportunities: Most of the young girls are either not aware of the effective use of Technology, how to be innovative and how to avail opportunities in the market and in the summit we focus on these through the engagement of experts and job sector.

Quality Education for Women: Through engagement of Institutions and job market summit focus on educating young girls on quality education and key stakeholder to create quality education opportunities for the young girls.

Career Selection and Career Planning: Through the summit and its series of interventions we help young girls define their career choices and plan their career to be more successful with a defined destiny.

Emerging opportunities for women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Manufacturing, Tourism, Agriculture, Handicrafts, Digital Skills earning, Online Earning, Backing & Cooking etc

Equal opportunities & Women Right Education: Women Employability Summit highlights important to equal opportunities for women by engaging key stakeholders to participate and help women have equal access to the opportunities and educate the women on this.

Venue:

Each year Center for Awareness Training & Development chooses to execute the Women Employability Summit event in different public and private sector women universities and colleges by collaborating with them and taking them on board as facilitator partner. This year CATD choose to executed the event at Women University Mardan and this year we are planning to go with other institutions, if we plan to.

  • WES is a great interactive platform where I was exposed to job sector and employers in my campus and learn alot form the job sector exports and speakers about how to be more employable

  • It was really a transformational experience for me while interacting with inspiring experts, employers and being interviewed for the employment opportunities. I think we need to have such initiative more frequently so that we learn the skills and have the knowledge that makes us well equipped for job sector.
